There's lots to do at the villa. . . .
You'll find books and films to suit all ages and tastes, chess, Monopoly (French par naturellment) and lots of other indoor games. For those with small hands there's a  big box of Lego.
Or you might prefer the outdoor choice of Boules - very French, or Croquet - very English.

The area immediately surrounding the villa is great for walks of discovery - you'll find a large scale local map in the bookshelf along with regional maps and guides packed with interesting places to visit.

In Carcassonne there's a huge variety of entertainment for all ages - Jousting Knights on Horseback are a perennial summer favourite, and are just part of the many events at the Cite of Carcassonne.  On Bastille day (July 14th) Caracssonne puts on the second largest firework display in Europe and one of the most spectacular in the world.  It's a seriously major affair and the town trebles it's population to 400,000 for the evening so while its very much worth watching be prepared to take up your viewing position about 12 hours before the start.  If you can't face that, then Limoux has a more relaxed display where you can sit by the river, watch the fireworks and still get a table at the Grand Cafe afterwards.
